To guarantee a high standard in tourist guiding throughout Germany the German Tourist Guide Association BVGD has developed training guidelines leading to the certificate of the association.
 
The BVGD-Certificate requires
. a training course following the BVGD-guidelines
. a minimum of three years experience in tourist guiding
. proof of continuing professional development
. two additional in-depth seminars with final examinations
